Buying hair online can be intimidating especially if its your first hair piece. Most women prefer to go into a physical store and try on hair pieces, touch them and feel them before committing to such a big purchase. So when I heard about a local shop - VIP Hairlines, I was thrilled. Finally, after a ton of searching online, I had discovered a physical store in the GTA that knows toppers and knows female hair loss.
I had the pleasure of visiting Erika's shop (she has two locations - one in Stoney Creek and one in Burlington) this past month. Immediately I felt at ease with Erika. She welcomed me and made me feel comfortable. Her shop is totally discreet, and private, which is so important when dealing with hair loss. No one wants to be sitting in a salon completely vulnerable or feeling judged.
I was impressed with Erika's knowledge of hair loss solutions, she has been in the industry for 25 years, even started at a barber shop installing the old school toupees and extensions, so she has seen how far hair loss solutions have come over the years.
Erika took her time to explain different options for my level of hair loss and my needs. She showed me toppers, wigs and hair systems. If you aren't familiar with hair systems, they are essentially a topper without the clips. A hair system is adhered to your head with an adhesive. I haven't tried a hair system myself, but I could see it being a road I would go down in years to come.
One thing that really impressed me about VIP Hairlines is that they request photos of your hair before you come in for a consultation. This ensures that they have items in stock that would suit you perfectly.
I was able to try on a couple wigs while I was there and so did my daughter. I even played around with a blonde one and was shocked to learn it was synthetic hair - the quality looked and felt like human hair to me. I was super impressed by how lightweight the toppers were and the hairline was so natural as you can see from my photos. You can see from my photos. She also had the perfect color match for my hair.
If you are from the area, I recommend checking out VIP Hairlines. Please note that she does not take walk in appointments so make sure to call ahead and schedule a consultation. If you mention my blog, Ericka will waive the $50 consultation fee!
